Honeycomb Group transforms an empty property into multiple, much needed one bed homes!
  • Date: 27/08/2020

Earlier this year, after securing funding from Homes England, we began work to create much needed, quality one bed homes in Stoke-on-Trent. Using the expertise of Croft Architecture we transformed a large rundown and empty terraced house into five new modern one bed flats.

The flats will be managed by Staffs Housing with homelessness charity Concrete providing additional floating support where needed to help residents thrive in their new homes. Both Staffs Housing and Concrete are part of the Honeycomb Group family with the same belief that local people, local places and local values matter.

Director of Housing Services at Honeycomb Group Tim Sheail says: “We are really proud to support local people in our community. We know that a happy home is so much more than just a shelter, it’s a place where people can feel connected and confident and able to make the most of the journey ahead. Working with Staffs Housing and Concrete on this project has been a great way to draw on the diverse skills and knowledge within the Group to make sure people in our area can access and maintain a happy home of their own.”

Sarah Forshaw, Head of Homelessness, Housing and Complex Needs at Concrete, adds: “The project has created five high quality homes which are very much needed in our local area, with support available to those who need it to help make these happy homes. We’ve already moved in five customers who are settling in well and their feedback has been great with residents stating how pleased they are with the very high standards and the psychological boost of moving into brand new homes. We couldn’t be more pleased with the results!”
