Our staff intranet, named ‘The Hive’, has won highly commended in the ‘Best Design’ category at an international award ceremony.

The Interact Excellence Awards, held by the Hive’s platform provider, celebrated organisations at the forefront of digital, intranet and internal communications innovation from around the world.

The Hive was fully redesigned and rebuilt last year after the whole organisation went through a rebrand and name change. The site is now used daily by the Honeycomb Group’s 260 staff as a social network to keep staff updated on what’s happening across its brands and as an information hub to access important documents, contact details and.

Ben Lowe, Honeycomb Group’s Senior Communications and Marketing Officer said: “It’s great news to hear that The Hive has been highly commended in the ‘Best Design’ category. It’s a fantastic achievement for our intranet to be recognised not only for how it looks, but how easily and intuitive it is to navigate and use. This is just one of the ways that we at Honeycomb Group are giving our staff the technology they need to be able to continue to deliver happy homes to our customers.”

Breaking barriers between staff, easier to find the information staff need to do the day-to-day job to deliver happy homes to staff

The entries were judged by a panel of independent experts and were impressed by the redesign of our intranet and the use of our Honeycomb Group branding.

Elizabeth Mull was one of the judges: "The Hive is a visually engaging intranet that also includes intuitive site architecture. The focus on redesign and not just lifting the outdated content means that The Hive delivers a streamlined, easy-to-navigate experience."

Ephraim Freed was another judge: “The Honeycomb Group intranet topped the charts in for a very specific reason, it became a compelling part of the organisation, supporting and growing a strong culture. When an intranet becomes so deeply ingrained in the employee experience and company culture, it is truly essential."

The shortlist of nominees spanned non-profits and international companies from around the globe including the USA, UK and Australia.
