We are proud to be supporting Glow's latest fundraising appeal #SaveTheirSummer.

Living with domestic abuse has a devastating impact on children and young people, and even more so during a global pandemic. They have missed so much already but Glow hopes to give them a memory which could help save their summer holidays.

The charities fundraising appeal, which launched on 21 June, enables supporters to buy a gift experience ranging from £7-39. With an option to donate a personalised amount or multiple experiences too.

Glow’s Education and Prevention Team Leader, Sarah Buckley explains more about the appeal. “Many of us often take for granted small things in life like ordering a takeaway on a Friday night or taking the children to the beach on a sunny bank holiday. For lots of children and young people we support this isn’t the case.

“We’re supporting children and young people who have never been to a theme park, the cinema or even had a takeaway. They might not have that family unit at home, transport to visit places or in lots of cases the extra income to spend on picnics or attraction tickets.”

Honeycomb Group's Head of Business Development and Fundraising Nic Lowry adds: “children and young people across the world have missed so much during the COVID19 pandemic, but it has hit those we support even harder. We’re hoping to raise £2,500 to give each child or young person a gift experience over the upcoming summer holidays, which could really be a memory they cherish for a long time.”

Glow currently support children and young people between 5 and 19-years old living in the community or in one of their three refuges across North Staffordshire. The charity supports those affected by domestic abuse and provides specialist sessions and programmes to raise awareness of healthy relationships in schools and colleges. The sessions help children and young people spot the signs of domestic abuse and discover how to find help if they need it.

Across the UK, one in seven children and young people under the age of 18 will have lived with domestic violence at some point in their childhood. Domestic abuse can severely impact mental and physical wellbeing, as well as behaviour and education. Glow is on a mission to end this cycle and rewrite the future for children and young people so they can live a life free from abuse.
