Staffs Housing teams clean up the streets of Chesterton

Last month staff from our affordable housing provider, Staffs Housing, headed out to help a local community improve their neighbourhood.

Teams from across the organisation visited Mount Pleasant in Chesterton to help residents and the wider community. Gardeners were on hand to cut back and improve green spaces, housing officers checked in with residents and neighbourhood officers cleaned up the streets by litter picking.

Alongside this, Staffs Housing also hired a skip to help residents get rid of any unwanted rubbish or clutter in their homes.

During the day the team collected 12 bags of rubbish and filled a small skip while working with the community to make a difference.

For Housing Officer Katie and her colleagues, this was just one of many community days the team have done in neighbourhoods across Staffordshire this year. It's all part of their commitment to creating proud homes for residents.

"At Staffs Housing we're committed to making sure our residents have proud homes", explained Katie.

"Doing that doesn't stop at the front door. We know that the neighbourhood you live in can also make a difference to how you feel about your home.

"We noticed that the streets were becoming littered and wanted to hemp improve things for the people that live there.

"I got to work to set up a community day to help our residents and the wider community too.

"It was so great to have so many of my fellow colleagues and customers getting involved and supporting too.

"Overall the day went really well and I'm proud to have made a difference."

Staffs Housing resident, Mr Ullah, said he was really pleased to see Staffs Housing making a difference to his community.

“It’s great that Staffs Housing can come out and spend time helping to improve the community for residents”, said Mr Ullah.

“It shows they’re a responsible landlord wanting to make a difference. I’ve had previous landlords who just aren’t interested in anything you say, but that’s not the case with Staffs Housing.

“I’ve lived here a long time and feel we’re well looked after and supported, and it really makes a difference!

“On the day the team were great, as well as litter picking and cleaning up the streets the gardening team helped to plant flowers in our front garden, something we’ve been wanting to do for a while.

“To show our thanks and support we made sure everyone had a cuppa too.”
