Fancy running for a good cause? Glow and Concrete are on the lookout for sponsored runners to support their services

This month, our two Stoke-based charitable services are appealing for runners to take part in sponsored runs to raise money to enhance their vital work.

Domestic abuse specialist Glow and homelessness specialist Concrete form Honeycomb Charitable Services. While Glow provides support for people impacted by domestic abuse, such as safe accommodation and recovery guidance, Concrete is on a mission to make homelessness history.

Last year, a team of runners took on Stoke-on-Trent’s famous Potter’s Arf for Glow’s education and prevention service, which provides relationship education to children and young people, with the aim of stopping abuse in it’s tracks before it can even begin.

The team raised over £2,000, and this year the services are keen to build on this, appealing to those lucky enough to have secured ballot places for the London Marathon 2025. They’re also keen to hear from athletes taking part in other runs, such as this year’s Potter’s ‘Arf, November’s Run Alton Towers events, and more.

All money raised goes towards enhancing services, such as treats for children living in Glow’s domestic abuse refuges, or stocking Concrete’s food pantry for people who have faced homelessness.

Honeycomb Group’s Bids and Grants Officer, Katie Tams, explained more: “With London Marathon ballots being given out and Potter’s ‘Arf training in full swing, it’s a really exciting time for runners who want to make a difference.

“Last year our Potter’s 'Arf team had an amazing impact on our education and prevention service. The runners came together to raise £2,350 which helped the team educate even more local children and young people about domestic abuse, including how to access support if they need it.

“This year, we want to appeal to even more runners who fancy lacing up their trainers and hitting the tarmac for an amazing cause. Whether you are passionate about ending homelessness, or domestic abuse support is close to your heart, we want to hear from you about how you can support our services.

“We know fundraising can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming, so if you’re unsure of how the process works, or have questions about the process, we can offer support and guide you through it.”
