Honeycomb Group's winter safety hub is looking out for residents when temperatures drop - with 10,000 views so far

This winter at Honeycomb Group, we launched a winter safety hub to protect residents during the colder months.

We know that when temperatures drop, risks – both to residents’ homes and residents themselves – can increase. That’s why our teams worked together, using their specialist expertise, to launch a digital hub filled with useful information and support.

The hub contains practical information, such as how to troubleshoot boiler issues and stay safe when heading out in icy conditions, alongside support and wellbeing guidance. This includes where to find local warm spaces and mental health resources.

So far almost 70% of residents have visited the hub, with nearly 10,000 people viewing helpful hints and tips shared via Staffs Housing’s social media channels.

Executive Director of Operations, Mary Walker, explains more: “Resident safety is our number one priority all year round, but we know that risks can increase over the winter months. Colder temperatures and icy conditions can have an impact not only on our residents’ homes, but their day to day lives as they head out and about.

“Winter can also be incredibly isolating, especially if residents live alone. With this in mind we wanted to make sure that the support hub includes resources to help with mental health and wellbeing too.

“We want residents to feel not only safe, but empowered and reassured that there is support available for them if they need it. Our aim is to make what can be a difficult time of year that little bit easier.”

Mary Walker

The creation of the hub was the result of partnership working across Honeycomb Group.

Mary continued: “Our compliance and maintenance teams came together to create the hub. They used their knowledge and experience to make sure it was full of useful information and handy tips to keep residents safe and warm throughout winter.

“It’s another example of us being proactive and preventative in our approach to keeping our residents safe and well, using specialist expertise from across our Group to do so.”
