Honeycomb Group welcomes new Executive Director of Finance

We have welcomed a new Executive Director of Finance this month.

Greg van Enk-Bones joined Honeycomb Group on 1 March, in a move that is aimed to enhance financial strength, to ensure sustained growth across our organisation, which includes a 3,400 homes landlord, a home support provider, as well as services and accommodation across both the homelessness and domestic abuse sectors.

Greg brings a wealth of experience and expertise in social housing finance, having served in similar roles at Christian Action Housing Association, Your Homes Newcastle, Karbon Housing Group, Connexus Housing Group and Peaks & Plains Housing Trust, amongst others.

With a proven track record in financial strategy, improving financial controls and reporting, as well as risk management, and driving operational efficiency. He will play a crucial role in steering Honeycomb Group towards the growth objectives identified in the business’ new corporate plan, to be launched in March 2024.

On the appointment, CEO Julie Guildford Smith said: “We are delighted to welcome Greg to the Honeycomb Group team.

“His extensive housing finance experience and strategic foresight will undoubtedly contribute to our increased financial resilience and future growth ambitions.”

Greg van Enk-Bones also expressed enthusiasm about his new role. He said: "I’m delighted to have secured this role at Honeycomb Group. It’s a fantastic organisation in North Staffordshire, an area that I have a real passion for the regeneration of.

“It’s great to be joining an organisation that’s so connected to local communities and really does have such a massive impact on local people’s lives. I look forward to bringing increased financial focus that will enable us to do even more in the future.

“My first week in post has been fantastic. I’ve had a warm welcome from teams and I’m learning more about the Group every day. I feel excited about the future and the work that we can do together for the people living in the communities we serve as an organisation.”

The appointment of Greg van Enk-Bones as Executive Finance Director comes after other recent senior appointments in the Group, including Mary Walker as Executive Director of Operations and Julie Guildford Smith as CEO.
