Through our home support specialist, Revival, we are proud to deliver the Befriending Service. If you haven’t heard of it before, it’s simple. Volunteer Befrienders give up their time to provide regular companionship and friendly, practical and emotional support that helps reduce isolation and build confidence in everyday life.
One recent example shows just how meaningful these moments can be.
Befriender Lorraine spent time with Staffs Housing customer Joan on a shopping trip to help her prepare for a special upcoming birthday celebration. Despite the cold weather, they enjoyed their time together and were able to focus on something positive and personal to Joan.
For Joan, this wasn’t just about shopping - it was about having company, feeling supported and being able to look forward to an important milestone with confidence. She shared how grateful she was for the support and the time spent together.
This is what the Befriending Service is all about: helping people feel connected, supported and less alone. Sometimes it’s the simple things - a conversation, a shared activity, or a helping hand - that can have the biggest impact on someone’s wellbeing.
The service is there for Honeycomb customers who may be feeling isolated or would benefit from a little extra support in their day-to-day life. By building trusted relationships, befrienders help people stay connected to their communities and enjoy more positive everyday experiences.
We’re proud of the difference this service continues to make, and of the Befrienders who give their time and care to support customers in this way.
