Customer voices shape the next chapter of Honeycomb Group’s neighbourhood approach

This summer at Honeycomb Group, we’re taking another step forward in our commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences, investing in new Neighbourhood roles across our affordable housing provider, Staffs Housing, to ensure customers continue to feel heard, supported and connected within their communities.

The investment builds on our customer-led Neighbourhood approach and reflects our belief that the strongest services are shaped from listening to the people and communities we serve. By creating several new roles, we’re strengthening our local presence and investing in the people who help turn neighbourhoods into places where customers feel valued, supported and part of something bigger.

Since launching our Neighbourhood model in 2024, we’ve focused on creating services designed around customers’ lives. Through our three local Customer Hubs and community-based neighbourhood patches, we’ve brought support closer to home, making it easier for customers to access services, build relationships and connect with the teams around them.

But for us, creating communities that thrive means continually listening, learning and evolving.

Customer feedback has consistently shown us the value of visible local support, familiar faces and meaningful face-to-face interactions. Colleagues across Honeycomb have also played a vital role in helping us understand where we can go even further. Together, that insight has shaped the next evolution of our Neighbourhood model.

We’re now introducing more specialist roles and strengthening our on-the-ground presence, ensuring teams can spend more time where it matters most: in the communities they serve. These changes will help us deliver even more accessible, responsive and personalised support as customer needs continue to evolve.

The new positions include specialist Income and Anti-Social Behaviour roles and three Extra Care Sheltered Housing Officers. Based within our villages in Bradeley, Meir and Stoke, the Extra Care Sheltered Housing Officers will provide visible day-to-day support for customers while creating opportunities for connection, wellbeing and belonging through activities and engagement sessions.

Julie Guildford Smith, Chief Executive at Honeycomb Group, said: “We’ve seen first-hand the positive impact a stronger neighbourhood presence can have for our customers and communities. Over the last few years, we’ve built a strong understanding of our customers, the communities we serve, and the different types of support people value and need.

“For some, that’s seeing a familiar face in their neighbourhood; for others, it’s having access to more specialist support, such as Anti-Social Behaviour and Income, when it matters most. These new roles are about listening to feedback and building on that insight - increasing our local presence, introducing specialist expertise, and ensuring customers can access support in the ways that work best for them.

“As we continue to grow and evolve, we’re proud to invest in the people and services that help us deliver responsive, connected and customer-focused support.”
