This September we're celebrating the contribution of Board member and Committee Chair Rebecca Neill as she prepares to step down at the our Honeycomb Group Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Since joining the Group, Rebecca has played a pivotal role across the organisation’s governance, serving as Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee, alongside being a Senior Independent Director and a member of the Remuneration and Organisational Development Committee.
A qualified accountant with a degree in social policy, Rebecca brought to Honeycomb a career spanning senior leadership roles in housing and local government, including Director of Assurance at Midland Heart and Head of Governance at Cardiff Community Housing Association.
At Honeycomb, Rebecca’s impact has been far-reaching. Under her guidance, the Committee has strengthened oversight in key areas - such as financial reporting, audit and risk and compliance – and she has championed the introduction of improved ways of working, including the Group’s recently launched Rubixx housing management system.
Beyond the Boardroom, Rebecca has been an active and visible presence across Honeycomb’s services. From visits to schemes, including over 55s villages and domestic abuse refuges, ensuring that the customer voice remains central in shaping services.
Julie Guildford Smith, Chief Executive of Honeycomb Group, said: “Rebecca has been an exceptional guardian of good governance during her time with Honeycomb. Her deep technical knowledge, combined with her passion for housing and social purpose, has brought real value to our Board.
"We’re incredibly grateful for her dedication, challenge and wisdom, and she leaves a lasting legacy of strong governance that will serve us well into the future.”
Greg VanEnk-Bones, Executive Director of Finance at Honeycomb Group, added: “It’s been a privilege to work closely with Rebecca on the Audit and Risk Committee.
"Her attention to detail, balanced judgement, and ability to see both the big picture and the finer points have been invaluable in managing risk and supporting informed decision-making. She has helped us build a strong framework that will benefit Honeycomb for years to come.”
