Last week, Honeycomb Group hosted a Board Strategy Day, bringing together members of our Board and Executive team to reflect and shape our strategic direction for the years ahead.

The day was strengthened by the contribution of two valued partners and guest speakers: Jon Rouse, Chief Executive at Stoke-on-Trent City Council, and Nikki Finnegan, Senior Manager Growth at Homes England.

Their insights provided both a national and local perspective. Jon Rouse provided an insight into Local Government Reorganisation including ongoing community consultation work across the local area. Nikki Finnegan shared an overview of Homes England’s Affordable Housing Programme, outlining current priorities, funding approaches, and the role of strong delivery partnerships in meeting housing need.

Both sessions prompted valuable conversations about how we at Honeycomb Group can continue to support local priorities and play a proactive role in helping neighbourhoods thrive. It also reinforced the critical role registered providers and local partners play in turning national policy into meaningful outcomes for customers and communities.

Julie Guildford Smith, Honeycomb Group Chief Executive, said: “Working and collaborating with partners is fundamental to achieving lasting change. We are incredibly fortunate at Honeycomb Group to have strong partners and connections who share our values and our purpose. By collaborating closely with organisations like Homes England and Stoke-on-Trent City Council, we can better serve our customers, strengthen our communities, and help our local area truly thrive.”

The combination of national policy insight and local intelligence sparked open, constructive dialogue across the Board and Executive team. The day reaffirmed that strong partnerships, built on shared values, trust, and a common purpose, are essential to improving services and maximising positive impact.
