Local people impacted by homelessness and domestic abuse will have access to even more housing and support this year with the addition of 25 new supported homes across the city.
At Honeycomb Group, we transform the lives of thousands of local people each year through safe accommodation, tenancy sustainment and 24/7 supported housing schemes.
This includes people searching for affordable housing, fleeing abusive relationships and overcoming homelessness.
To expand on this work, we have recently secured three new properties across North Staffordshire, working with socially minded landlords, to provide tailored homes for individuals and families in need.
The properties include a 14-bed scheme for young people, including care leavers, five safe accommodation apartments for individuals and families fleeing abuse and a six-bed home providing semi-independent living for local people overcoming homelessness.
The new homes will not only guide local people, but they’ll support regeneration across Stoke-on-Trent, bringing old empty buildings back to life – including within conservation areas.
It’ll also continue our groundbreaking partnership work with local landlords and developers, solidifying positive relationships that have a lifechanging impact on people across Staffordshire.
Kerry Birtles, Executive Director of Support and Wellbeing at Honeycomb Group, said: "Securing these homes is incredibly exciting. It means we can reach more people, in more tailored ways, giving them the stability and support they deserve. Whether it's those individuals who are care experienced, or a family who require safety from the impact of domestic abuse, these homes represent hope and a fresh start.
“They’re more than bricks and mortar – they’re a foundation for recovery, growth, and independence, for a range of people with a range of different needs. We’re really proud to provide these spaces that offer not only safety, but the opportunity for a new chapter.”
Mike Goodwin, Operations Manager (Landlord Liaison) at Honeycomb Group (pictured above) added: “At Honeycomb Group we absolutely love connecting with likeminded local landlords and developers, with a social heart, who truly support our mission to end homelessness and domestic abuse.
“Customers are at the heart of everything we do, and it’s incredible to be able to provide such high-quality, safe, comfortable homes for then. These partnerships with socially-minded developers really are key to achieving this.
“Alongside this, our mission also extends to our wider community, social value and impact. Working with socially-minded developers really is key to achieving this. We’re also very proud to bring empty buildings back to life, and help tell a whole new story for future generations across the city.”
