Honeycomb Group's commitment to becoming a Dementia Friend

Dementia Friends Session Two (2)

As part of our ongoing EDI commitments, Honeycomb Group is proud to take meaningful steps toward becoming a Dementia Friendly organisation.

One of our key EDI commitments this year is to become a Dementia Friends organisation, which means developing our understanding of dementia across the Group - not only to better support customers living with dementia, but also to provide support to colleagues who have a loved one impacted by dementia.

Our EDI Forum is driving this work forward, particularly Forum member Claire Roberts. Last week she arranged for 26 staff to take part in Dementia Friends training with Hazel, Community Development Coordinator at Alzheimer’s Society.

The sessions were incredibly insightful - challenging common misconceptions and myths around dementia, exploring the many ways it can present, and encouraging colleagues to reflect on their own assumptions.

Through engaging activities and discussions, our colleagues were prompted to think deeply about the lived experience of people with dementia and the small actions that can make a meaningful difference - whether that's adapting routines, adjusting communication methods or providing reassurance in daily interactions.

Our EDI Forum will now build this learning to help Honeycomb Group work towards our Dementia Friends status. With 3.8 million Dementia Friends across the UK, we’re proud to be adding to that number and contributing to a more dementia-friendly society.

We’re excited to continue this journey, embedding these insights into how we support both customers and colleagues, and ensuring empathy, understanding, and care are at the heart of everything we do.
