This Christmas, we're proud to work with our domestic abuse specialist, Glow, to launch a festive fundraising appeal.
Make Christmas Magic will help bring comfort, joy, and magical memories to children and families spending the season in safe accommodation.
Glow supports families across Staffordshire who have experienced domestic abuse. Through refuges and community-based safe accommodation, Glow provides a safe haven and specialist support to help survivors rebuild their lives. Many of the people they support are children and young people who have witnessed abuse at home.
For many families arriving at Glow’s refuges, Christmas looks very different. Having fled domestic abuse - often leaving behind their homes, belongings, and support networks - the festive moments so many children treasure are simply out of reach.
Advent calendars, Christmas Eve boxes, reindeer food, or family outings become unaffordable luxuries at a time already filled with upheaval and uncertainty.
As part of the Make Christmas Magic appeal, we will be sharing a series of social media video clips in which children talk about what they love most about Christmas - the excitement, the sparkle, the traditions. These joyful moments will be contrasted with an important reminder: not every child gets to experience these things, especially those spending Christmas in refuge without the comforts of home or the festive extras they once knew.
Our campaign aims to change that.
Donations will help Glow provide things like reindeer food, treats for Santa, Advent calendars, Christmas Eve boxes, festive outings - including pantomime trips and Christmas experiences – and lots more.

“Even the smallest gift can bring joy, spark imagination, and remind families that they’re safe, supported, and never alone. Together, we can make Christmas magical again.”
Through the campaign, we hope to create new festive memories for children who need comfort and stability at a time usually associated with joy, not fear.
Every pound donated helps bring light, warmth, and a sense of magic to families who have been through so much.
