This October, Honeycomb Group is proud to support the first ever Supported Housing Week, a national campaign hosted by National Housing Federation that shines a spotlight on the life-changing impact of supported housing and the vital role it plays in helping people live independently.
Across Honeycomb, our supported housing services provide more than just a roof over someone's head. They offer safety, stability and personalised support for people facing some of life's most challenging circumstances, including homelessness, domestic abuse, mental health challenges and substance use recovery.
For many people, supported housing is a lifeline. It can be the difference between sleeping rough and having a safe place to call home, between crisis and stability, and between surviving and thriving.
As demand for supported housing continues to grow, the sector is facing significant financial pressures. Supported Housing Week aims to raise awareness of the value these services bring to individuals, communities and wider public services, while calling for a sustainable future for supported housing.
Barry's story
When an amber weather warning was issued during the summer, one of our team members spotted Barry sitting outside a local supermarket. Concerned for his safety, they contacted the local rough sleeper team, who arranged emergency accommodation for him at our 24/7 male supported accommodation scheme via Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP).

What began as a temporary stay during extreme weather soon became the start of a new chapter. Barry moved into his own apartment at the scheme and then, with our support, transitioned to more independent living. Since then, he's been working closely our Floating Support and Tenancy Sustainment Teams, who have guided him with his recovery, emotional wellbeing, budgeting and practical life skills.
Reflecting on his journey, Barry said: "The team have helped me no end. I feel safer, supported, and more like myself again."
Barry's story is just one example of the difference supported housing can make. By providing not only a safe home but the right support at the right time, supported housing can help people build confidence, regain independence and create new chapters.
A week to celebrate and advocate
Throughout Supported Housing Week, we'll be sharing more stories from across Honeycomb Group to highlight the impact of our services and the incredible work of colleagues who support customers every day.
Together, we can help raise awareness of supported housing, celebrate the difference it makes, and champion a secure future for the people who rely on it.
